For Companies

SERVICES WE OFFER

Our wide range of accountancy and support services are crafted to suit both individuals and businesses whatever size or sector, right at the door step, all year round, 24/7.

Services for Companies

  • Bookkeeping

We provide a comprehensive bookkeeping service which is tailored to our clients’ needs. We can provide a full hands-on service to entirely free up our clients’ time or we can simply provide assistance where a client’s preference is to retain their bookkeeping in-house. Where preferable, we can visit periodically during the year and perform the service on site.

Our aim is to offer flexibility and a tailored package to meet the specific needs of our clients.

All accounting records are computerised on an integrated accountancy package thus facilitating interim review of financial information.

  • Financial Reporting

Our team of qualified accountants utilise best in class financial reporting software to deliver a financial statement close process that meets all accounting and legislative requirements. This gives our clients assurance that the right expertise is on hand to ensure their obligations are met.

For all our clients we conduct closing meetings to review and approve financial statements. Our objective at all times is to maximise interaction with our clients and work as a team.

  • Company Secretarial

The responsibilities and obligations imposed on directors by the Companies Act is broad and onerous. The Companies Registration Office and the Director of Corporate Enforcement are very active in enforcing these obligations.

Our team at O’Brien Crowley can manage all the company secretarial obligations of a company giving peace of mind to directors that they are compliant in their reporting obligations under the Companies Act.

Our service offering includes:
• New company formation
• Preparation and submission of annual returns (B1 submission)
• Reporting of change of director/secretary
• New company constitution
• Share registration services

  • Audit & Assurance

At O’Brien Crowley we have the expertise, experience and resources to execute statutory audits across a broad range of clients and sectors.
We view the audit process as a value add for our clients and always seek to identify areas for process improvement. Our teams from partner down engage with client staff at all levels to ensure a collaborative approach to the audit process.

The statutory audit should be an integral part of a company’s internal improvement process and we always encourage our clients to derive the maximum benefit from our visits.

  • Tax Compliance

It is vitally important that companies are aware of up to date legislation in respect of corporation tax including avoiding pitfalls and maximising reliefs available.

We can manage, prepare and submit corporation tax returns for our clients ensuring that all up to date legislation is fully complied with.
As well as ensuring compliance we remain cognisant at all times of potential reliefs available to reduce liabilities for our clients.

  • Payroll Services

The operation of an effective payroll processing system is paramount for any business as delays or errors can have serious implications from a staff perspective and potentially from a Revenue tax perspective.

We provide payroll services to small and medium-sized businesses on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly basis including P30 returns, issuing of payslips, general advice regarding entitlements etc. We have a dedicated resource available to deal with queries or amendments in a timely manner.

This is an invaluable resource for our clients as it removes what would otherwise be a time consuming and potentially stressful responsibility.

  • VAT Compliance

VAT legislation is a complex area which is constantly evolving and legislative updates can often be overlooked by businesses. At O’Brien Crowley we constantly challenge the assumptions underpinning the VAT workings of our clients thus ensuring full compliance.

We work with our clients to develop a system that works for them. Where the preference is to retain the function in-house we can offer a review service prior to submissions. Alternatively, we can take the entire compliance function from our clients thereby significantly freeing up our client’s time.

The recovery of VAT on costs is often a leakage area for businesses. We aim to apply our comprehensive understanding of our clients’ businesses to maximise their recoveries.

  • VAT Planning

VAT implications can often represent a real irrecoverable cost to businesses and thus can be a determining factor in deciding whether to proceed with a transaction. Effective planning in advance can mitigate or eliminate this cost and thus it is extremely important to have conversations in relation to VAT at an early stage.

Our team of tax consultants provide VAT planning services across a broad range of issues including VAT on property transactions, cross border activities and VAT cash-flow management

  • Revenue Inspections

Whether it’s a profile interview, an aspect query or a full audit we at O’Brien Crowley have extensive experience in working with Revenue to address their queries and meet their requirements in a timely manner.

We adopt a “no surprises” approach and work closely with businesses in reviewing all aspects of their operations and bookkeeping records in preparation for visits.

  • Capital Gains Tax

Capital gains tax is a significant consideration in the transferring assets and it is important that adequate planning is undertaken to maximise reliefs and ensure tax liabilities are reduced to the fullest extent possible.

We provide a full suite of services to our clients including planning to maximise reliefs available through to fulfilling filing and administrative compliance responsibilities. Examples of areas where we assist is in the transferring of assets to the next generation, sale of shares and property and transfer of assets from abroad.

  • Business Start Up

The decision to start a business can be an extremely daunting prospect and there are many obstacles that an individual is faced with in order to succeed. At O’Brien Crowley we leverage our extensive experience with businesses to foresee and plan for the challenges ahead.

In the initial start-up phase cash-flow is key and the preparation of a business plan and accurate forecast is vital. We work with new clients in the preparation of these key documents which then form an integral part in proposals put to banks or investors for financing.

  • Forensic Accounting

Forensic accounting combines accounting expertise, auditing techniques and investigative skills and is often an integral input in court proceedings.

At O’Brien Crowley we have the expertise, experience and resources available to conduct such investigative work and present in a courtroom setting as required.

  • Valuation Services

There are many situations which may necessitate the valuation of a company including as part of a sale of a company, share buy-back or issuing of new equity.

We have extensive experience in applying various valuation techniques, tailored to a situation. We also engage third parties where expert input is necessary in a particular sector e.g. property valuations.

  • Internal Controls

The accurate mapping of a company’s internal structure including allocation of responsibilities, identification and implementation of controls and clarification of reporting lines is extremely important in ensuring an effective and efficient finance function.

Due to time constraints in fulfilling ongoing daily tasks there is little time for a finance team to inwardly reflect on their processes and controls.

It can be very beneficial to outsource such a project which can lead to significant improvements and efficiencies for businesses.

At O’Brien Crowley we have the expertise and experience in performing such reviews to drive process improvements in our clients.

  • Insolvency

The environment in which a business operates can be punishing and unfortunately at times companies may find themselves in distress. At O’Brien Crowley we have a team of experienced professionals with experience in navigating clients through such difficult times. We will review all options available and provide calm, practical advice. Included amongst the options available are:

Corporate Rescue
The optimal approach is to develop a business plan to return a business to profitable growth. We have a depth of experience in formulating options including identifying suitable partnerships and outside investment through our extensive networks, debt restructuring and cost control.

Receivership
Receivership is almost always instigated by a debt holder i.e. the bank on foot of a charge over the assets of a company. At O’Brien Crowley we are licenced and have the experience and expertise to accept such appointments.

Liquidations
A liquidator may be appointed by the courts or by way of creditors meeting. Alternatively a shareholder may wish to discontinue trade and extract remaining value from a company or a group may wish to rationalise their structure through reducing number of dormant entities. We have the expertise and experience to accept any such appointments.
